Messi, the greatest ever??

Messi maintained his status as the "best player in the world" this week winning his fourth Ballon D'or title. His 91 goals in the calendar year and impressive form made him a strong candidate and saw him outs Christiano Ronaldo and fellow team mate Andres Iniesta. No player in the history of the game can boast such a feat, could he be the greatest player to grace the game?

Despite only winning the Kings cup in 2012 Messi showed impressive form through out the year and broke Gerd Muller's record of 85 goals in a calendar year. Messi's form has continued through to this current season and should it continue he may well win a fifth Ballon D'or title.

Messi is yet to win football's most prestigious prize, the Fifa World Cup. A point many including the likes of Pele will be quick to bring up. Is that a factor that should be considered when posing this question as to him being the greatest? Perhaps a fifth win of the award would solidify such a position. With the World Cup roughly 18 months away, a win for South Americans' Argentina would further cement his legendary status. His recent improved form for Argentina must surely continue if this were to happen.

Love him or hate him, Messi's greatness can not be denied. We here at the Bram Congratulate Lionel Messi on this fantastic feat.

Feel free to post your comments and views on the Bram Village Connect Facebook page, we would love to hear what you think.
